Core Courses
The following five courses are required.
- TECH 3020 - Technology Systems in Societies Current issues and their relationship to technology and systems in various cultures throughout the world; emphasis on explaining technological behaviors, and on showing how technology permeates all human affairs.
- TECH 3100 - Computer Mediated Communications in Training and Education Introduces students to computer-mediated communications and its applications within training and education today. Focus is on the application of networking technologies and resources that support high-quality, interactive instruction in both face-to-face and at-a-distance learning environments.
- TECH 3200 - Adult Learning in Technological Settings Introduction to adult development theory and related implications for adult learning, design elements from assessment through evaluation and identification of roles and responsibilities of educators and learners in various environments.
- TECH 4380 – Supervisory Skills, Styles and Practices This course considers essential differences between the basic levels of Leadership (Senior Management, Middle Management and Supervision) with the focus on supervision.
- TECH 4480 - Transformational Learning and Technology Developing an understanding of technology systems as political, economic, and social entities that have multiple goals; using that understanding as a framework for the development of educational adoption events that promote transformational learning during introduction and application of new technologies.

The following courses are suggested program completion options.
Training and Development
- TECH 3030 - Instructional Design and Delivery The study of learning styles, reading levels, philosophies of learning and education, instructional delivery methods, instructional techniques, and evaluation instruments.
- TECH 4030 - Evaluation and Assessment within Technology Principles and procedures used in the measurement, evaluation, and assessment of educational programs involving individuals, groups, programs, and systems within a technology setting.
- TECH 4150 - Instructional Materials Development Instruction in the organization, design, preparation, and application of technology-based teaching materials. Emphasis is on the underlying theories of instructional materials selection and development, instructional design, visual communication, and instructional materials production processes.
- TECH 4280 – Development of Training Programs Design, production, and evaluation of training programs for industry and business. Job analysis, task analysis, instructional design, and cost analysis in development of training programs.
Information Studies
- TECH 4210 – Technological Forecasting Examining different technologies as they pertain to the information technology (IT) industry and additional industries; determining how these technologies will be used, what kind of demand there may be, and the positive and negative consequences of implementing them.
- TECH 4220 - Information Policy Analysis Developing an understanding of current and pending federal and state legislation that impacts the manner in which information (audio, video, and text-based) is disseminated; exploring the political, cultural, economic, and social aspects of these policies as they pertain to information and technology.
- TECH 4230 - Digital Rights Management Developing an understanding of current and pending rights models used to secure digital content; examining the implications Digital Rights Management (DRM) schemes carry with them, and their impact on the flow of electronic information in modern societies.
- TECH 4240 - Media Usability Studies Examination of the usability of computer-based device interfaces and the accomplishment of human tasks, thinking critically about how information is presented; attention to hardware and software user interfaces, user-centered evaluation processes, usability engineering, educational uses of computers and computer-supported cooperative work.
Cooperative Education Requirements
The College of Technology requires three Co-Op experiences for all students in the college: The course numbers for these experiences are TECH 2890, 3890 and 4890.
- TECH 2890 - You will receive credit for Tech 2890 when you transfer your associate’s degree to BGSU. You do not have to complete a Tech 289 Co-Op experience.
- TECH 3890 - Tech 3890 is taken as “Credit-By-Exam” (CBE). The CBE is basically a report evaluating your past work experience.
- TECH 4890 - Tech 489 is taken as an online portfolio applying the learning outcomes of the program to work experience.
