Steps on how
to get a course online with support
from
COBL.
- Contact Director of COBL at 372.7900 to discuss the potential
online course or program concept.
- Consult with Department Chair/Program Director and seek college
approval.
- Begin Blue/Green sheet Course/Curriculum Modification
process. (Blue/Green sheet provided
below)
- Utilize COBL checklist guidelines for online course development.
Secure COBL staff endorsement. (Course development checklist
provided below)
- Begin syllabus development for course(s). A COBL staff member
can assist you in the creation. (Online Course Sample Syllabus and Online Syllabus Checklist provided below)
- Register and successfully complete both the course management
and online course facilitation training offered
by COBL.
- Consult with a COBL staff member on concept, design, technical
requirements and media to be incorporated
into your online course. The staff at COBL
will provide assistance in developing a timetable
complete with checkpoints indicating certain
deadlines for effective online course completion.
Contact 372.6792 to schedule an appointment.
- Begin development of the course(s). COBL staff is available for
assistance with all aspects of course development.
- Implement the course(s) to the student participants.
- Evaluate and assess the course(s). COBL
staff is available for assistance.

Training and Development
Training is highly recommended for faculty teaching
online for the first time. COBL offers many training
opportunities focusing on effective online course
facilitation and online pedagogy using Blackboard.
